Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University, KRU, is a public university under the Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education. It is located in the city suburb of Kanchanaburi province, which is best known as the site of the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Railway built during the Second World War. The province is also noted for its scenic splendor and outdoor recreational activities for nature-loving tourists, just 136 kilometers to the west of Bangkok.
Surrounded by a lot of impressive tourist attractions, KRU campus itself is recognized as a perfect learning resort with the combination of natural, cultural and historical ambience which provides valuable academic learning resources. The University prides itself in having educated its students to become graduates in the field of teacher education as well as other professionals who serve in many sectors in its own locality as well as the country as a whole.
Since its establishment
in 1973 as a teacher college, KRU has been through various significant
stages of development as follows : 1976 started
its teaching in a teacher education program leading to a Lower Certificate
of Education
1978 offered
a teacher education Program leading to a Higher Certificate of Education.
1980 began
to offer a bachelor's degree in education.
1995 being
upgraded to university status as "Rajabhat Institute Kanchanaburi" by
a grant of the Rajabhat Institute Act 1995
1998 began
to offer a Master Program in Educational Management
2004 being
legitimated by the Rajabhat University Act 2004, the
Institute became "Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University"
2007 started
its international cooperation with higher education institutes in Guangxi,
People Republic of China, about 300 students attended one year-certificate
program in Thai Language for Foreigners
2010 began
to offer a doctoral degree in Administration for Educational Development
